Guys, I took the Pottermore sorting hat quiz twice and got Slytherin both times. I am a Slytherin. Not a Gryffindor (like I thought I was), but a Slytherin.
I’ve decided to make a personal post of my 2012 highlights - it has surely been one incredible year.

Went to my first Anime LA convention in January with David.

Attended the annual Rose Parade for the first time, also with David.

Returned to Tae Kwon Do to pick up where I left off ten years ago.

Attended my first Anime Conji in March.

Attended my first Fanime convention in May, thanks to this guy.

Attended my first electronic music festival at the I Love This City Festival.

Was in the best shape of my life training for my Korra cosplay, doing Tae Kwon Do, and being the most conscious and careful I’ve ever been with my diet and work out regimen.

Had the greatest Anime Expo experience EVER.

Attended the Zelda Symphony! I didn’t get photos of the actual stage, but here is me cosplaying as Sheik for the event and my friend Jimmy as an awesome Postman (who won the Zelda cosplay competition!).

A gigantic poster I got from the symphony, one of my most favorite posters yet!

Got my copy of The Zombie Survival Guide signed by Mr. Max Brooks at Comic-Con.

Goodies from Anime Expo.

Goodies from Comic-Con.

Signed Resident Evil poster by producers Hiroyuki Kobayashi and Yoshiaki Hirabayashi!

Completed six new cosplays this year.

Went with my cousins and siblings to Six Flags Hurricane Harbor for the first time.

Ran my first 5K with my dad at the 5K Obstacle Course Zombie Race - Run For Your Lives.

Went with my friends to Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights, which was my first Halloween event at an amusement park (didn’t actually take any photos of any of the scary things because I was too busy being scared, lol).

We were finally able to spend our first Halloween together. <3

Attended my first actual rave at Hard: Day of the Dead.

Danced and partied it up with fellow geeks at my first Pacific Media Expo convention.

Reached 10k+ subscribers on Youtube.

Upgraded my camera from my first baby, the Canon Rebel XT, to the Canon Rebel T3i.

Got my first recording mic, a Blue Bluebird.

Got my black belt.
What I’ve been listening to these days.
To me, when I teach [martial arts], all types of knowledge ultimately means self-knowledge. So therefore, [students] are coming in to ask me not so much how to defend themselves or how to do somebody in. Rather, they want to learn to express themselves through some movement, be it anger, determination, or whatever. So what I’m saying is that he is paying me to show him, in combative form, the art of expressing the human body.
It’s “unacting acting” or “acting unacting”. It’s a combination of both - here is natural instinct and here is control. You are to combine the two in harmony. If you have one to the extreme, you will be very unscientific. If you have another to the extreme, you become a mechanical man, no longer a human being. It is a successful combination of both.
I do not believe in styles anymore. I do not believe there is a Chinese way of fighting or Japanese way of fighting or whatever way of fighting. We have only two hands and two feet, so styles tend to not only separate man because they have their own doctrines and those doctrines become the gospel truth that you cannot change, but if you do not have style and just say “here I am as a human being, how can I express myself totally and completely”, you won’t create a style because style is a crystallization. That way, there is a process of continuing growth.
When you’re talking about combat or fighting, well then baby you better train every part of your body. When you do a punch, I mean you gotta put the whole hip into it, and snap it, and get all your energy there. And make this [your hand] into a weapon.

I am happy to have stumbled upon this video, as it provides extra motivation and inspiration not only for my upcoming exam but also when I train in general. And damn, towards the end when he’s demonstrating that punch..wow. Incredible interview and individual.
My black belt test is a day before my birthday. As a birthday gift for myself this year (aside from traveling), I will get my black belt, which means I need to train hard these next four weeks especially in learning and perfecting “koryo”. They’re also having us write a ten page paper on what it means to be a black belt. This should be loads of fun.
This is how my real hair looks these days. Actually that’s sort of lie…because I hardly straighten it to this extent or do a middle part, since I don’t quite fancy my forehead much. I feel like BoA, hurrhurrr. It’s still somewhat strange for me considering I’ve always had bangs for nearly the last decade of my life. My hair will usually be up in a high bun because of the summer heat. But thankfully that’s changing now that the fall season is here.
Anyways, enough about hair. I know, I know I’ve been very inactive on all my sites for the past couple months. I am still contemplating whether or not to actually publish the very long post I have saved in my drafts right now, explaining why. Regardless if I choose to or not, I want you all to know that I am well and thankful for all the support I am still receiving thus far despite my inactivity. I will be back to my usual shenanigans soon, I promise.
